User Group University - This always worthwhile event is this year featuring a talk by tech guru, tetris head, cofounder of Apple Computer, and all around nice guy, Steve "Woz" Wozniak. The event happens at the Argent Hotel (site of a whole bunch of Apple related events this week), requires registration and costs $50 at the door (if any seats are still available). Pre-registration is $44.95. It's worth it if you are trying to build a new MUG or empower an existing one.
Tuesday, 1/9/2007
Steve Jobs Keynote - Experience the Steve Jobs Effect (tm). This is absolutely the best show in town. If you got one of those cheezy free exhibit only passes, you're not getting into the expo. The front seats go to special guests, VIP's and the press who get in a few moments before the rest of the herd. If you want to get in, get a ticket and line up early to get inside. When I say early, some people arive in the wee hours to line up. Dress warm and bring a good book. Thanks to DailyTechTalk for pointing out that the Keynote will take place in the new Moscone West hall this year.
MacWorld Blast Party - 8:00 PM. Remember the good days when everyone tried to sneak into the Merisel or Ingram parties? This year, the folks that put on the show are hosting a party that anyone with $40 can go to with no sneaking involved. Admission ($40) includes 2 drink tickets, entertainment and the chance to win fabulous prizes. Registration here.
Wednesday, 1/10/2007 Wednesday is always the busy night for MacWorld Expo parties. There's so much Expo related stuff happening tonight that I suggest you give up on doing something else and pick-a-party.
Civic Center Farmers' Market - If you're looking for some unique San Francisco items to bring to the folks back home, stop by for bargains on a wide variety of local goodies. If the tamale folks are there, do yourself a favor and buy a couple. The market is located on the UN Plaza off market street. It's a quick ride down Market on the historic F Market trams.
Web Designer & Developers Birds of a Feather - Join your web tweeking compadres to trade war stories, tips and tricks. This is an excellent networking opportunity. 6 PM in Moscone.
sfcutters FCPUG SuperMeet. This is my favorite MWE event. Sponsored by the local Final Cut Pro users group, this event continues to grow and continues to get even more fabulous. This event features great presentations, excellent food and drink, and amazing raffle prizes. Admission is $10. You must purchase tickets in advance. This event always sells out. You must be 21 or over to attend.
DailyTechTalk MacWorld Party - At the Swig-Bar, this event is open to anyone with a MWE badge. Yet another Adam Jackson event.

The group will walk to the Metron where the food court, or at least a small part of it, will be taken over by the assembled meeteruppers.
RapidWeaver Meetup - If you're a RapidWeaver-er, meet at the Epson booth near the front of the exhibit hall at 4 PM. A brief period of groupthink will ensue and eventually, all will head out in search of beer and fun. More RapidWeaver meetup info here.
Bruce Fraser Tribute -- The late Bruce Fraser was a digital imaging author, guru and genuine nice guy. Join host Graham Nash in a special MacWorld Expo Tribute and Celebration between 6:00 and 7:30 PM. The event is open to anyone with an Expo badge and will be held in Moscone North, Room 134. MOMA Tour - Are you expo-ed out yet? Take a tour (free with museum admission) at the nearby San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
Electronic Frontier Foundation Sweet 16 party - Events like this are one of the way cool side benefits of being in San Francisco for the Expo. The EFF is a group of patriots who are personal heros of mine. The party should rock. There is a suggested donation of $20 at the door, but no one is turned away for lack of lucre. At the 111 Minna Gallery located at 111 Minna Street; withing easy walking distance of Moscone. The do starts at 7, ends at 10, and is a good chance to say thank you to some great folk.
Keith and the Girl Meetup@the Metron - If you're a fan of the KATG podcasts, this is a chance talk to other KATG heads. Yet another Adam Jackson event.
